Bicycle Film Festival 2011

Event Name:Bicycle Film Festival 2011
Description:The 11th edition of the globe spanning BFF hits London with Film, Art, Music and parties, all in the name of bikes. Herds of bicycle enthusiasts from around the UK will flock to the capital this October to celebrate the world’s best invention - the bicycle. As usual, the Barbican will host the festivals film programme and highlights include the World Premiere of Racing Towards Red Hook and documentary Sunchasers, exploring the world of competitive cycling through the lives of three disabled women. This year marks the first collaboration between BFF and the Silent Film and Live Music Series, with a unique screening of a Bicycle Film with live accompaniment. All this kicks off with the return of the Barbican’s Bicycle themed LATES on Thu 6.

Thu 6 Oct from 6.30pm
Bike LATES
Roll up (literally) for the Bicycle Film Festival LATES, when the Barbican foyers will be filled with two wheeled attractions. Battle it out against another cyclist on a static vintage roller with Rollapaluza, be wowed by fixed gear bike tricksters, enjoy food, live music and much more.

Sun 9 Oct 4.00pm
The Wheels of Chance (PG)
Special screening as part of the 2011 Bicycle Film Festival with live piano accompaniment.
Adapted from H.G. Wells’ comic novel set at the height of the cycling craze in the early twentieth century, The Wheels of Chance is a delightful tale of an inept draper’s assistant on a cycling holiday, who falls in love with a young woman cyclist who has run away. Shot on location in Sussex and Hampshire, the story unfolds as a metaphor for the revolutionary effect of the bicycle on Edwardian society.
