| Event Name: | Blackheath Bike and Kite Festival |
| Description: | With around 25,000 bike and kite lovers attending the festival in 2009 and even more expected to take advantage of all the free demonstrations and shows this year, the 2010 Blackheath Bike and Kite Festival features plenty of activities for children and young people. Kids can hop on their bikes and take part in slaloms, slow races and limbos.
Kite shows
Keep your fingers crossed for some moderately blustery weather at the Blackheath Bike and Kite Festival so that all the kite flying experts can really show what they can do. High drama is planned with the professional kite flying displays with competitors from around the world, and theres also the chance to have a go yourself over the weekend.
Activities for kids
Children can get stuck in with some kite making workshops, and there will also be the chance for adventurous types to have a go on the huge BMX track. There are also some special performances from the bike stunt team who will be leaping from the tops of cars to showcase their expert jumps and balancing acts, and there are quirky bikes that pedal backwards or in circles to try too.
TLC for bikes
Dr Bike experts will also be present at the show to give you some top tips on how to keep your own bike in full working order. New for the 2010 festival is the theatre performances, where families can see a new interpretation of the Dick Turpin story.
