| Event Name: | Community event - Play in a Day 2011 |
| Description: | Come along to watch a drama and dance performance in the Temperate House. The performance is inspired by plants from the Gardens and the traditional celebrations of 'Day of the Dead'.
'Play in a Day' is a community outreach project developed and delivered in cooperation with Feltham Arts Association.
For the second year running, young people from the local area will prepare a drama and dance performance inspired by the plants at Kew Gardens and the traditional celebrations of the 'Day of the Dead', a Mexican holiday where family and friends gather together to remember their loved ones.
All costumes, props and dance routines will be devised at Kew Gardens on the day of the performance! The project challenges young people’s skills and abilities, as well as everyone’s timekeeping and organisational skills.
Come and see the results. The performance is FREE for garden visitors.

Kew's Community Outreach & Engagement programme is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
We work in partnership with community based organisations, groups and individuals to develop and deliver creative projects and events inspired by Kew Gardens. Our aim is to engage with wider and more diverse audiences, to encourage a sense of ownership among these groups and to increase participation and interaction. We try to reach out in particular to people who might face additional barriers when accessing heritage sites (physical, social, financial, educational).
