| Event Name: | Community event - Temple of the Imagination workshop |
| Description: | In this workshop for community groups, participants use photography to explore the architecture of Kew Palace and the diverse plant life at Kew Gardens.
The ‘Temple of the Imagination’ was built as a collaborative project between Kew Gardens and Historic Royal Palaces, and was inspired by the Chinese Pavilion, a small building created at Kew for Princess Augusta in 1762. Originally designed in 2006 to celebrate the restoration of Kew Palace and Kew’s Heritage Festival, this temple was re-launched in 2009/2010 with a new design and we continue the redevelopment in 2011/2012 through a series of creative workshops with our community partners.
We work in partnership with community based organisations, groups and individuals to develop and deliver creative projects and events inspired by the gardens.
Our aim is to engage with a wider and more diverse audience, to encourage a sense of ownership and to increase participation and interaction.
We try to reach out in particular to people who might face additional barriers when accessing heritage sites (physical, social, financial, educational). |

Location: Temple of Imagination, Kew Gardens (how to find us).
Workshop details: This workshop is designed for community groups, and people working with young people are particularly welcome. Participants do not require previous experience with photography. We provide the equipment needed, including digital cameras.
Group size: Minimum 8 and maximum 10 participants.

From Kew Gardens station it is a 5 minute walk to Kew Gardens (Victoria Gate entrance). Exit the station through the row of shops and walk down Lichfield road (opposite) to reach Victoria Gate. |
