Event Name:DocSpot: Colours at the End of the World
Description:In association with the London International Documentary Festival

In 2006, Benetton celebrated 40 years in business and 40 years of high-profile commitment to social issues and racial equality, but at the same time as promoting its “united colours” the company was allegedly evicting an indigenous Mapuche couple who had settled on Benetton land in Argentina.

Whilst other Mapuche have had their access to water and transport restricted and have even been prohibited from lighting fires, Benetton claims it has set land aside for the Mapuches - nomadic rural workers who eke out a living from agriculture and cattle - though the Mapuches claim that they’re only being given back land that was stolen from them in the first place. In his riveting investigation of the apparent hypocrisy of this retail giant, Corte exposes what happens when big business and ‘little’ people clash.
