| Event Name: | Lecture - Travelling tales of a modern day plant hunter |
| Description: | Join Tom Hart Dyke and find out more about his passion for plants. Tom has travelled the world collecting plants and his garden is home to the national collection of eucalyptus. Tom also has an impressive cactus display and a temperate house.
Tom Hart Dyke first shot to international prominence in 2000 when he was kidnapped in the Colombian jungle on a plant hunting expedition that went dangerously wrong.
The World Garden at Lullingstone displays plants from around the world, planted according to their respective countries of origin. Tom has undertaken many field trips to observe flora in the wild to inform this project and collect seed.
Tom’s enthusiasm for plants is boundless and his interests span many plant groups. Not only is his garden home to the national collection of eucalyptus, but in addition to his outdoor World Garden, Tom has an impressive cactus display, a temperate house and is currently working on an area to display bulbs from around the world.
