| Description: | Now in its seventh year, this ride starts at Salford Quays, leaving Manchester via Old Trafford and Stretford, where it picks up the Trans-Pennine Trail.
This mostly traffic-free route is ideal for cycling and takes you along part of the Manchester Ship Canal towards Liverpool and the Mersey, which you'll reach by travelling down the famous Penny Lane.
THE MANCHESTER SHIP CANAL SECTION OF THE ROUTE IS UNSUITABLE FOR ROAD BIKES. WE RECOMMEND TYRE SIZE 1.5" PLUS.

Getting There: Car Nearest Parking - Lowry multi-storey (near to the start). Please check here nearer the time for parking fees. Height restriction: 2.1 metres.
Getting There: Train Nearest station - Salford Crescent (half mile from the Start - just follow our signs). Please note - the Metro CANNOT take bikes. Please check with operator regarding carriage.

Other Info Minimum rider age 8 years. Riders under 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult over 18 and wear a helmet.
Transport - A coach service runs once in the morning from Liverpool to the Start and at specific times (TBC nearer the date - check website for details) during the afternoon to take riders back to Manchester. You need to book this in advance (see Entry Form). Please check here in November for the cost for you and your bike. Morning transport to the Start loads at 06.30 for a 07.00 departure from Calderstones Park (behind the Coach House Gallery) Calderstones Rd., Liverpool L18 3JD.
Hybrid / mountain bike suitable. Section alongside Manchester Ship Canal NOT suitable for road bikes.
