Description:
To commemorate the bicentenary of the death of Nevil Maskelyne, this symposium will look at his life and work from a variety of perspectives.
Speakers will look at Maskelyne's important astronomical work and at his role in directing the work of others at the Royal Observatory and elsewhere, as well as considering the more human side of the 5th Astronomer Royal and his family. There will also be opportunities to see some of the instruments and other recently acquired objects used by Maskelyne and his family and colleagues at Greenwich.
