| Event Name: | New windows on transients across the Universe |
| Description: | Organised by Professor Paul O'Brien, Professor Stephen Smartt, Professor Ralph Wijers and Professor Kenneth Pounds CBE FRS
Registration for this event is now open
A violent stellar explosion detonates every second in the visible Universe producing transients such as supernovae and gamma-ray bursts. The dawn of a novel array of international observing facilities and detailed super-computer simulations is transforming the field. Our interdisciplinary meeting brings together experimentalists and theorists from photonic, astro-particle, and gravitational wave detection experiments to discuss their results and ideas.
Registration
This discussion meeting is intended for researchers in relevant fields and is free to attend, but pre-registration online is essential.
An optional lunch is offered each day for £20+VAT per day, and should be booked at registration. Payment is accepted online by Visa, MasterCard, Visa Debit, Maestro, Electron and Solo cards.
In the event of a booking for lunch being cancelled, the Society can only refund the payment providing the cancellation is received at no later than 5 working days before the Discussion Meeting.
This meeting is followed by a related Satellite meeting at the Kavli Royal Society International Centre entitled Interpreting signals from astrophysical transient experiments from 25 - 26 April 2012.
