| Event Name: | Parachute Course |
| Description: | A course for those wishing to learn how to jump on their own. First jumps are made from 3500 feet using a static line - a system which automatically deploys your main parachute as you fall away from the aircraft and are the first stage of a training programme that could lead to you obtaining your licence
On the Saturday, you would need to be at the airfield by 8am in the morning, and on the first day you will be taking part in ground school. As long as you pass the course, most people try to come back the following day to make their first descent. If however, you are unable to make it back the following day, or the weather conditions are unsuitable for skydiving, you will have a 3 month window in which to return to complete your jump. On the second day, you will be given some refresher training in the morning, and then it is a case of waiting until it is your turn to jump, weather conditions permitting. The initial price that you pay includes one days ground school, and your first jump only. Further jumps can be made for the price of £35 per jump. The number of jumps that you can make in a day is very variable as it firstly depending on how you get on with your first descent, we then also need to look at weather conditions on the day, what space we have onboard the aircraft etc.
Having completed a minimum of six static line jumps (learning the art of falling away from the aircraft whilst practicing pulling a dummy rip cord handle) you could be ready for your first free fall. |
