Path-Crossing - a photographic exhibition

Event Name:Path-Crossing - a photographic exhibition
Description:The social architecture of Ralph Erskine, conceived and curated by Andrea Baczynski

In recent months, nearly thirty people from very different social backgrounds were asked to take photographs of their homes and work spaces created by the architect, Ralph Erskine. These were the building complexes he created in the 1960s at Byker in Newcastle upon Tyne and Clare Hall in Cambridge.

The exhibition invites the visitor to take an active part by creating new juxtapositions of the images. This process will offer an understanding of the similarities and differences between these two sets of buildings.

Path-Crossing features Erskine’s architectural work as both social engagement as well as the creationof a possible language of social coexistence.

After Cambridge, this exhibition will be shown in early 2012, at BDP, London, and the Hatton Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne.
