| Event Name: | Social networking: an employers friend or foe |
| Description: | Most employers are still coming to grips with social networking. Should they let their employees blog, tweet and use Facebook? It is no longer just a question of whether employees should be using web 2.0 during working hours, but what they are doing and saying on their blogs at any time.
Your employees are the face of your organisation, however junior or senior, and they reflect the brand image: something that you have worked hard to create. It is therefore important to have an element of control of what image they project, but it is also important that employees have the ability to spread the good word about your company and to promote your company.
Some companies, including some film companies, have banned the use of sites such as Twitter and I am sure other companies and industries will follow, but is that really the answer? It is a balancing act, but how can the balance be achieved?
