| Event Name: | Talk - Meet the conservator |
| Description: | Join Eleanor Hasler, a member of Kew’s conservation team, as she demonstrates and discusses her work conserving Kew’s historic collections.
Every month join a member of Kew’s conservation team as they demonstrate and discuss their work conserving Kew’s historic collections.
This month, as part of our current exhibition, Archive Project Conservator Eleanor Hasler will be showing archives from the Joseph Hooker collection and explaining how these paper based items are repaired and preserved.
There are roughly 7 million pieces of paper in Kew's Archives Collection. These include documents relating to the history of Kew, such as the historical correspondence of our directors, as well as other items relating to the history of botany and gardening. The Archives form a valuable resource on the history of the discovery, study, transfer and use of the world's plants and fungi.
The Archives are open to the public, and anyone who has a genuine need to use the collections may do so. Our users vary from students and academics, to family historians and actors researching parts. |
