The Drawing Room Orchestra

Event Name:The Drawing Room Orchestra
Description:Following the success of their sell-out performance in 2009 of the Tchaikovsky Fourth Symphony in the stunning arrangement by his pupil, Taneyev, Karl and David return to perform his even more emotionally charged Fifth, again at just one piano, and partner it with Debussy’s own arrangement of La Mer, written during his stay at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. A very rare opportunity to hear two such great symphonic works in the most intimate surroundings.

PROGRAMME
Debussy _ La Mer
Tchaikovsky arr. Taneyev _ Symphony No.5

Piano Duet
David Alexander & Karl Lutchmayer

KARL LUTCHMAYER enjoys an international career as both a pianist and lecturer. Karl has given recitals and concertos throughout the world, working with conductors including Lorin Maazel and Sir Andrew Davis, and performed at all the major London concert halls. He has broadcast on BBC Radio3 and Classic FM, and his regular recital series at the Warehouse has been received with critical acclaim. A regular chamber performer, particularly with his own ensemble, Dialogos, he is also a passionate advocate of contemporary music, and has given numerous premieres and had many works written for him.
