| Event Name: | The Masters |
| Description: | The best snooker players in the world come together to battle for the title at The Masters.
The Masters is snooker’s most prestigious invitation tournament and is considered one of the biggest tournaments on the snooker calendar. Its importance derives from its rich history, high level of prize money and the fact that the elite field is confined to the world’s top 16 players.
Ever present on the calendar since 1975, it has been won by most of the sport’s great names, including Stephen Hendry, Steve Davis, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby and John Higgins. The 2010 Masters final was the first ever major final to be contested by two Asian players. China’s Ding Junhui beat Hong Kong’s Marco Fu 10-4 in the final.
The tournament receives extensive television coverage from the BBC throughout the eight days. It is also televised live by Eurosport and CCTV China, reaching a global audience of hundreds of millions.
