RUPERT SHELDRAKE
The science delusion is the belief that science already understands the nature of reality in principle, leaving only the details to be filled in. Science as we know it is based on the philosophy of materialism, which claims that all reality is material or physical; there is no reality but material reality. The world is a kind of machine. Consciousness is by-product of the activity of the brain. Matter is unconscious. Nature is purposeless. God exists only as an idea in human minds and hence in human brains.
This evening Rupert Sheldrake will show how science is already transcending these old assumptions. He transforms the ten dogmas of materialism into questions and shows how each question opens up new possibilities, pointing to a richer and more engaging view of nature and consciousness.
