| Event Name: | The Tree (12A) |
| Description: | Based on Judy Pascoe's popular Australian novel, "Our Father Who Art in the Tree." Out in the Australian countryside in a beautiful idyllic house and grounds lives the O’Neil family. Until tragedy strikes the father dies of a heart attack and the family are grief stricken. The mother Dawn, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg retreats to her bed leaving her poor teenage son to look after his siblings including his younger sister Simone who believes her father’s spirit lives on in the form of a huge fig tree set next to the house. As time goes on Simone seeks comfort from the tree climbing further and further up believing that her father is listening to her.
Eventually their mother finds the strength to look for a job in town where she befriends a new man. Of course the children are not so keen but strangely enough it seems the tree is not so keen either and starts to disturb the foundations of the house. This film is definitely worth a look just for the acting talent from the young Morgana Davis who plays Simone.
