| Description: | Richard Bandler is widely regarded as one of the most brilliant minds in the field of personal change and the worlds greatest hypnotist. He is the co-inventor of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), arguably one of the most profoundly effective approaches to self-improvement. The Guardian recently hailed him as a Leonardo Da Vinci of our times.
According to Bandler, trance is at the very foundation of human experience, in that we are constantly moving from one trance to another: for example, we have our work trances, our relationship trances and our parenting trances. Some of these states are useful and appropriate; others are not.
Bandler also believes that we are meta-programmable - we can set deliberately designed, automated programmes that work by themselves to take care of boring, mundane tasks, thus freeing up our minds to do other, more interesting and creative, things. Of this, Richard explains: If were doing something automatically that we shouldnt be doing - whether overeating, smoking, being afraid of elevators or the outside world, becoming depressed, or coveting our neighbours spouse - then we can programme ourselves to change. Thats not being a robot; thats becoming a free spirit. |
