World Freerun Championships

| Event Name: | World Freerun Championships |
| Description: | The bruising French extreme sport Parkour has expanded into the worldwide phenomenon of Free Running, and teenagers in cities from Lima to London are improvising terrifying courses of leaps, rolls, and swings through the urban landscape. Just as skateboarding moved from staircases and abandoned swimming pools into purpose built courses, Free Running is now taking over Trafalgar Square for the World Freerun Championships. A purpose-built cityscape will be created beneath Nelsons Column and The Fourth Plinth, (the One & Other plinther will certainly get a good view) as 27 competitors from 17 countries get the chance to freerun their way round to a soundtrack of their choice. The scoring system awards points for athletic skill, creativity, complexity and flow (though theyre not fooling anyone by using street slang - its basically the same way ice skating gets judged). The mixture of sport, fashion, music and street dance means kids and teens will absolutely love this (though under 14s must be accompanied by an adult). Tickets are free but theres a limit of 7,000 available so sign up for yours at the website below before 5th August.
