It would not be unfair to say that when it comes to outdoor London events, the choices sometimes do seem a bit limited. However, the scenario is going to undergo a complete metamorphosis this year with as many as three biking/bicycling adventure events that have been arranged as a part of the London to Paris Events. The London to Paris Charity Bike Ride will get started on 17th June and will seek participation from adventure-seeking cyclists from all over the United Kingdom. However, this event has a very noble underlying social cause to it which is making it being talked among London’s more prestigious charitable social events. The entire biking experience will be spread over five days and the volunteering participants will be asked to raise about £1250 through seeking donations for the cause that has been endorsed. The principal objective of setting up these cross-country biking and bicycling sports events is to raise funds that are needed for socially-tuned organisations like the Help the Aged and Age Concern. This is increasingly becoming one of the most talked-about
London events
with popular TV personalities such as Mr. Motivator encouraging viewers to make an honest attempt for biking cross-country, as it helps to accomplish two goals — fasten your progress towards fitness goals, being among the more demanding outdoor events and support charity. As a part of these biking events, a Folding Bike Challenge has been organised which is regarded as one of the toughest categories in biking adventure events and the charities will be assigned towards the British Heart Foundation and the Scope organisation.
Similarly, the London to Paris Bicycle Ride is being conducted to support a host of charities that have been set-up in support of causes such as providing medical care. This is one of the rare bicycling sports events that have been organised in London and this four-day event will commence in July. A group of small charities, headed by the Action Medical Research and the Breast Cancer Research will receive a major portion of the proceeds. This makes the London to Paris Bicycle Ride one of the most socially-centric London events to have been organised over the last decade. Talking about the ride route, it is going to be very demanding for the participants, as it stretches on for more than 400 km, with the starting point being London itself. From London, the route would head towards the countryside of Kent, then the Dover port and eventually across the Channel and head straight to the French capital, Paris. In a way, this is going to be among the few cross-nation
adventure events
that have been arranged with the participation of the British and the French authorities and the cyclists would be required to pedal hard through the rather tough terrains of the French countryside. However, to a certain extent their exhaustion will be alleviated with the scenic views of places like Beauvais and Abbeville.
The last in this series of socially-themed sports events is scheduled for the month of September. Titled as the ‘London to Paris Bike Ride Challenge’, it is easily the most demanding of these three
outdoor events
and the course carries on for more than 500 km. The participants will leave London on 9th September and they are scheduled to reach designated spots in Paris by 13th September. Anyone who is over the age of 18 and maintains a basic level of fitness can apply and further, a choice is provided in terms of choosing the kind of charity that a participant would like to support. Participants would be asked to make an initial deposit of £99.00, but the costs will be covered once the donations start pouring in. The starting point for all the riding events are distributed across the main London city area where the teams will assemble for small pre-event celebrations and the end-point is the Eiffel Tower, where charities and volunteers would be waiting to welcome everyone who has made the effort to be a part of this initiative. Those who are planning on participating in these outdoor London events should start getting their bookings done right away as the rush is already reaching fanatical proportions.
